About WaSun Eyewear
WaSun Eyewear is developing smart prescription glasses that switch from clear lenses to sunglasses on demand. Using electrochromic technology, wearers can control the tint with a simple swipe, without changing glasses or waiting for sunlight to activate conventional photochromic lenses. WaSun’s separate electrochromic and prescription layers are designed to make the product more practical, affordable and compatible with individual prescriptions.
Traction & Milestones
WaSun has secured $20,000 in early funding and support from KAUST, generated more than 120 expressions of interest and built a growing waitlist of over 130 prospective customers. The company has held discussions with major optical retailers, including Specsavers, and is currently developing its next functional prototype and progressing its intellectual property with KAUST. WaSun has also been selected for the ALPHA startup programme at Web Summit Lisbon 2026.
