Localscope Tells You What's Close By

By Vik Chadha

Localscope is a social-data-powered GPS app that aggregates Google, Bing, Foursquare, and Twitter results to help you find great spots nearby — with an augmented reality twist.

Localscope is a social data powered GPS app which help users find great spots to check out nearby. It uses Google, Bing, Foursquare and Twitter to pinpoint nearby destinations, letting you compare search results just by sliding between them – no retyping search terms.

The application is iOS only, at least for now, and offers an extremely smooth and functional UI. Results can be viewed in a list, on a map, or using an interesting augmented reality feature, which basically uses a live camera view to show directions to nearby locations (the usefulness of that is debatable, but it's a fun feature to try out). Contact details for each result are provided, and integrated maps let you know where everything is at a glance.

Localscope is available in the iOS App Store for $1.99, read more here.
